Chemistry Coursework- Mr Ashworth The remit of my investigation is to investigate whether the reaction between sodium Thiosulphate (Na2 S2 03) and Hydro-Chloric Acid (Hc1) can be changed. The balanced equation for this reaction is: - 2Hel (aq)+Na2 s2 o3 (aq) Na Cl (aq)+sd2 (g)S(s)+H20 (l) (Sodium Chloride +Sulphur +Water) To do the Experiment we had to use the following equipment and solutions, -0.4 Mol dm -3 Sodium Thiosulphate -Na2 S203 -2.0 Mol dm -3 Hydro-Chloric Acid (Hcl) -3 Beakers (250cm3) -One beaker (100cm3) -Burette -Conical Flasks (250cm3) -Timer -Water I had to make sure that the experiment was entirely fair, otherwise my results would have been inaccurate. I was using different variables. Sodium Thiosulphate was my variable, and I had to use the same amount of this with the correct amount of water each time. Each time I did my experiment the concentration of my solution changed (there were different amounts of substances). The only substance not to change its measurements...
