Tom Chaloner 11P 12th November 2002 Chemistry Coursework Introduction- For my coursework I will be looking at the rates of reaction between acid and marble chips. Ca C0 + HCl › Ca Cl + H O + CO When a marble chip (calcium carbonate) reacts with an acid like the one I am using, hydrochloric acid, a salt (calcium chloride), water and carbon dioxide (CO ) is made. I will also look at different ways to speed up the experiment. I will then make predictions on which method provides the fastest reaction times. When results are obtained I shall analyse and conclude on them. Plan- I will conduct an experiment to analyse different reaction times and rates of reaction. Also I will change different variables within the experiment e.g. acid temperature. From this I can find out how to make the reaction take place as fast as possible. To achieve accurate as possible...
