13.08.01 13.08.02 Nima Nasserghasri Chemistry Coursework The rate of reaction between dilute hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate Introduction I am doing an experiment with sodium thiosulphate and dilute hydrochloric acid. My aim is to find how the rate of reaction changes when one of the variables in the experiment is changed. I will be doing this by placing a beaker of thiosulphate solution and acid on a piece of paper with a cross on it. As the reaction takes place, the sulphur particles from the thiosulphate precipitate and eventually the sulphur builds up and the cross will not be visible. Apparatus In this experiment I will be using : * A teat pipette * A thermometer * A stop-clock * A square of paper * A conical flask * 2 measuring cylinders * Sodium thiosulphate * Dilute hydrochloric acid Plan In this experiment I will be measuring how long it takes sodium thiosulphate to react with hydrochloric acid at a selection of different temperatures. I...
