Experiment: The effects of concentration on the rates of reaction AIM: I am investigating the effects of the change in the concentration of a chemical on the rate of reaction PREDICTION: I predict that by increasing the amount of thiosulphate this will speed up the rate of reaction between the chemical and the acid. BACKGROUND THEORY There are many ways in which to effect the speed in the rate of reaction. These include: 1. Temperature - By increasing the temperature the faster the particle moves and the more collisions occur and this speeds up the rate of reaction. 2. Surface area - There are more particles that are able to react and therefore an increase in the surface area leads to a increase in the rate of reaction 3.
