The effect of concentration of hydrochloric acid on the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. Aim: The aim of this investigation is to find out the effect of concentration of hydrochloric acid, on the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. Factors to be investigated: To accomplish my aim I will vary the concentration of hydrochloric acid, and keep all other variables at a constant. Prediction: I predict that when the concentration of hydrochloric acid is higher, the speed of the formation of the gas (hydrogen) will increase. In this experiment I also expect the speed of the reaction to be proportional to the concentration of hydrochloric acid. If the concentration of the acid doubles, I expect the speed to double. I also predict that the greatest rate of reaction will be as soon as the reactants come into contact and as the reaction continues the rate of reaction will decrease. Linking prediction...
