Chemistry Coursework - The effect of changing Concentration on the rate of reaction Prediction If the concentration of the reactants is increased then the rate of the chemical reaction will increase as well. If the concentration of the reactants is decreased then the rate of the chemical reaction will decrease too. This happens because the more reaction particles there are in a certain volume of liquid the more successful collisions there will be. Than if there where less reaction particles in the same amount of liquid as we had before then there would be less collision therefore there will be a slower reaction. Planning In my experiment I am going to change the concentration of the sodium thiosulphate. I am going to measure the rate of reaction between the sodium thiosulphate and the hydrochlic acid.
