Preliminary work :- I have done an experiment on the effect of Radiation on two different types of surfaces. I used two boiling tubes, one with a silvered surface and the other with a blackened surface. From the results, I could see that the boiling tube coated with a black surface lost heat more quickly than a silvered surface. This shows that dark surfaces are good radiators of heat and silvered surfaces are poor radiators but good reflectors of heat. After conducting this experiment, I have a basic idea of heat loss under a particular condition and so I am going to apply a similar principle for finding out the affect of insulation on heat loss. The Plan :- Prediction : I predict that there will be a slower rate of cooling due to insulation, which would otherwise not be available. Insulation reduces heat loss and the rate of cooling.
