Concentration of acids-Coursework Aim: The aim of this investigation is to find out how the concentration of the acid affects the rate of reaction. Prediction: I think that the rate of reaction will increase as the concentration of acid increases. This is because in a higher concentrated acid, there are more acid molecules than water molecules and so there would be more chance of a collisions between the acid molecules and the magnesium strip. This means that the reaction would take place faster. However, on the other hand, in a less concentrated acid, there are more water molecules than acid molecules and so there is a higher chance of the water molecules colliding with the magnesium, therefore, the reaction will not take place as quicker as in the higher concentrated acid: Apparatus:> Goggles> Stop watch> Conical flask> Measuring cylinder> Gas syringe> Rubber bung> Rubber tube> Magnesium ribbon> Hydrochloric acid with concentrations ranging...
