GCSE Chemistry coursework By Shakira Brooking The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid has on the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. To ensure that the procedure would be safe goggles must be worn, as we will be working with acid, which is corrosive. There should be no naked flames as hydrogen gas will be evolved and this is highly flammable. Aprons should be worn again because acid is corrosive. Water must be at hand as if the hydrochloric acid does get spilt it can be diluted and made safe. Hazcards were looked at before the experiment to ensure all safety procedures were taken into consideration. For this investigation to be fair we will only be changing one variable. This will be the concentration of the solution. Other variables such as the temperature, surface area, and the volume will all be kept constant....
