The aim of this experiment is to find out the effect of bile salt concentration on the rate of lipase reactions by changing just one varialble: the concentration on bile salts in the reaction.

Method * Six test tubes were taken and put into a test tube rack. * Each test tube was labelled ( 3%; 2.4%; 1.8%; 1.2%; 0.6%; 0%) with the concentration of bile salts that were going to be put into them. * 5 cm³ of 3.6% fat milk was put into each of the test tubes. * 7 cm³ of sodium carbonate was then put into the test tubes. * Then the specific concentration of bile salts was added and then a few drops of the indicator phenothalin (pink in alkaline; colourless in "acidic") * Finally 1 cm³ of 5% concentration lipase was added and the...
