Rate Of Reactions Aim: The aim is to find out if acid (in rain) has a damaging effect on the metalic parts of buildings and other structures. And to find out what things affect the reaction between metals and acid,making the reaction go faster or slower. Hypothesis: I predict that as the teprature increases, the speed of the reaction, (between the metalic parts of buildings and the acid in the rain) will increase. I predict this because most chemical reactions happen faster when the temprature is higher. At higher tempratures the molecules move around faster, which makes it easier, for the molecules, to react together. Normally, in the usual constant condetions, a rise of ten degrees celsius is enough to double the rate of reaction. Chemical reactions happen only by chance, the particles need to collide head-on, with enough speed (velocity), so that they react. Plan/Method: 1.
