Investigating the rate of reactions Aim: the aim of my investigation is to see how different factors affect the rate of reaction between Hydro-chloric acid and marble chips. CaCO3 + HCl CaCl2 +H2O + CO2 Calcium Carbonate + Hydro-chloric acid Calcium Chloride + Water + CarbonDioxide Here is a list of all the possible variables (things I could change) in my investigation: * * Temperature * Concentration * Amount of solution * Amount of marble (in weight grams) * Surface area (i.e. chips or a block) * Pressure * Shaking * Stirring * Catalyst * Time the reaction is left The input variable in my investigation will be concentration. In order to change the concentration I will add different amounts of water to reduce the concentration. When Calcium Carbonate and Hydro-chloric acid react CO2 is produced. I will be measuring the amount of CO2 given off in a certain amount of time. Depending on how much CO2 is given off will illustrate how fast the reaction...
