The (Red) in Redox means that, oxygen is being taken away from a reaction Example CuO> Cu + 0² This is an example of Reduction in a reaction The (ox) in Redox means when oxygen is gained in a reaction, this is called Oxidation. Example H² + 0²> H²0 This is an example Oxidation happening in a reaction In this reaction there is a good example of a Redox reaction because, firstly Carbon and Oxygen are lost from CuC0³ to create Copper from Copper Carbonate. This is an example of Reduction in this reaction. Also Oxygen is gained from Carbon to create Carbon Dioxide.
