Rates of reaction A reaction is where reactants react together to form a product. You have a change occurring. A reaction only occurs when particles collide successfully with enough energy (activation energy, Ea) the number and frequency of collisions needs to be high for fast reaction. The particles need to collide and react in the right formation and with enough energy. (Gcse revision notes-higher Authors include John Dobson, Paul Levy and Nick Parmar) Examples of reactions are say where hydrogen and oxygen react together to produce water vapour. Or the rusting of iron and say the souring of milk. The term "Rate of Reaction" is the speed or time in which the reactants changing into products. Increasing the frequency of successful collisions will give an increased rate of reaction.
