Rates of Reaction Assignment. The aim of this experiment is to find out if the concentration of a solution has an effect, and what effect, it has on the rate of its reaction. In this experiment we are reacting Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) and Sodium Thiosulphate. Before they react they are both clear liquids. Sulphur is produced in the reaction as a solid and makes the solution go cloudy. When we do this experiment in the glass beaker we will place it over a black cross on white card. The time it takes until it is no longer visible will give us an idea of the rate of reaction. We are using 1 Molar HCL and 0.2 Molar of Sodium Thiosulphate, which we will weaken with water to make different concentrations to use in our experiment. Diagram To make this test safe we will make sure that non-of the reactants come into contact with our...
