Rate of reaction when marble chips are dissolved in hydrochloric acid Aim: To find out how long marble chips of different surface areas take to dissolve in hydrochloric acid. This experiment is based on the rate of reaction. I need to find out what that rate is; to do this I need to time the experiment. To vary the rate of reaction for the experiment, I need to change some of the variables. To make my experiment precise as possible I will make sure I set up the experiment in the same way every time. Also I will need to weigh or measure the amount of marble chips and acid to make sure they are the same. Research: There are 4 main experiments for rates of reaction. These are: 1. Reaction of hydrochloric acid and limestone. (This is the one I am doing) 2. Reaction of magnesium metal with dilute HCL 3. Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL 4....
