Rate of Reaction Coursework Aim The aim of this investigation is to discover the effect on the rate of reaction when Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate are reached under a pre-defined set of variables. Equation Sodium +Hydrochloric = Sodium +Sulphur +Sulphur + Water Thiosulphate Acid Chloride Dioxide Na2S2O3 + 2HCL = 2NaCl + S + SO2 + H2o Variables There are several methods that we could use to increase the rate of reaction in this experiment. These include: * Increasing the concentration of Sodium Thiosulphate. * Increasing the concentration of Hydrochloric Acid. * Adding a catalyst to decrease the required activation energy. * Increasing the surface area, therefore increasing the amount of successful reaction sites present. * Increased temperature can speed up the reaction because the particles have more energy and are therefore having more successful collisions. Equipment * 250ml Conical Flask * Sheet of A4 Paper * Hydrochloric Acid (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 Molars) * Sodium Thiosulphate (0.253 Molars (3S.F.)) * Goggles * Measuring Cylinders (100...
