Chemistry Coursework * Planning the Experiment To help me be prepared for the real experiment I conducted a preliminary experiment using the same solutions as in my real experiment. In this preliminary experiment I got the following results: Potassium Iodide (cm³) Sulphuric Acid (cm³) Starch Solution (cm³) Hydrogen Peroxide (cm³) Distilled Water (cm³) Reaction Time (sec) 1 / Time: Rate of Reaction 25 5 5 13 0 42 0.02381 25 5 5 12 1 43 0.02325 25 5 5 11 2 48 0.02083 25 5 5 10 3 56 0.01786 To ensure that I am doing the experiments safely I will always wear safety goggles and a lab coat and after the experiment I will make sure to wash my hands thoroughly because sulphuric acid and hydrogen peroxide are irritants. For my experiment, the variable will be the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide, as seen in my preliminary experiment. I will change the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide by adding less of it and more distilled water each time. But while doing this I have to be careful to add as much distilled water as I do take away hydrogen peroxide. During the...
