Investigating the effect temperature has on the rate of reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid Introduction In this experiment I am going to investigate the effect that temperature has on the rate of reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid The equation for the reaction is: Sodium + Hydrochloric Sodium + Sulphur +Sulphur + water Thiosulphate Acid Chloride Dioxide Na2S203 (aq) + 2HCL (aq) NaCl(s)+S2(s)+S02 (g)+H20 (l). Prediction I predict that the temperature would affect the rate of reaction; the higher the temperature, the faster the chemical reaction would take place and as a result there would be a more rapid drop in the light level. The reason for this being is because at high temperatures molecules are supplied with more thermal energy, which is converted to kinetic energy, and so collisions are greater therefore speeding up the reaction process. Apparatus The apparatus that I will be using are: · Conical flask · Stop - clock · Measuring Cylinder · Thermometer ·...
