Simon Beard 11Y Investigating the effect of concentration on reaction rate Plan: I am going to investigate the relationship between the concentration of sodium thiosulphate (NaS2O3) and the rate of reaction in a hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium thiosulphate in a hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate reaction. Here is the formula for the reaction which will be taking place: Na2S2O3 (aq)+ 2HCl(aq) ==> 2NaCl(aq)+S(s)+SO2(g) Equipment: I am going to need: o A 10cm3 measuring cylinder for measuring the HCl. o A 50cm3 measuring cylinder for measuring the sodium thiosulphate. o A conical flask, to act as the reaction vessel. o A stop clock to time the reaction o A piece of paper with a pencil cross drawn so I can tell when the experiment is over. o A thermometer to check the temperature of the sodium thiosulphate before each experiment to make it fair and to take accurate temperature measurements. o Hydrochloric acid. o Sodium thiosulphate. o Water I will set the experiment up as shown in...
