In this investigation I will be looking at how the rate of reaction is affected by temperature. There are many things that affect the rate of a reaction. The main four are: - * Concentration * Temperature * Catalyst * Surface area A reaction occurs when particles collide with enough energy. Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy needed by particles in order to react. Prediction I think that a higher temperature will cause a faster reaction because the heat will give the particles more energy resulting in more successful collisions. Preliminary experiment To decide what concentration of acid and what volumes I would use I did a preliminary experiment. I tested 0.5 m, 1m and 2m of hydrochloric acid with 20cm3 of sodium thiosulphate. These are my results: Concentration of acid (m) Time (s) 0.5 36 1 30 2 26 The equation for this reaction is Sodium + Hydrochloric sulphur + sodium + sulphur + water Thiosulphate acid chloride dioxide I have decided to test 1m of...
