Investigating Rates OF Reaction - Sodium Thiosulphate with Hydrochloric Acid What I Want To Find Out: To see the effects of a change in concentration on the rate of a reaction. The reaction that will be used is: Sodium Thiosulphate + Hydrochloric Acid Na2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCl (aq) What I Expect To Find / Scientific Reasons: I expect to find that the higher the concentration of thiosuplhate, the faster the rate of reaction will be. I expect to find this because, for the reaction to take place, there must be a reaction between the thosulphate ions, and the hydrogen ions, and when the concentration of thiosulphate is high, there will be more thiosulphate ions for the hydrogen ions to bump into, resulting in more reactions in a shorter period of time. Important Variables: * Amount of HCL * Amount of Sodium Thioulphate * Size of Beaker * Conditions, inside/outside warm/cold etc. I will be changing the amount / concentration of thiosulphate in...
