Investigating Catalase Aim: In this experiment I want to find out whether the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is affected if I increase the amount of Catalase, by increasing the amount of surface area of a potatoe. Plan: To find out whether the amount of surface area affects the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (2H2O --> 2H2O + O2) I am going to use 150 ml of Hydrogen Peroxide (volume 20) for each attempt. First I am going to use a 6 cm piece of potatoe without the skin. The area of each end is 1.13 cm2 (?R2) and the area of the cylinder is 23 cm2 (H x C). This means the surface area for one piece is 25.26 cm2. Once I've repeated this 3 times and recorded the results, I am going to do it again but this time cutting the potatoe in half, I will also have to calculate...
