Chemistry Practical Assessment There were three members in my group, Tom, John and myself. The Investigation I have been asked to investigate the rate of a reaction between 30ml of water, 20ml of sodium thiosulphate and 5ml of hydrochloric acid. In this chemical reaction, the yellow substance of sulphur was formed. The equation for this chemical reaction is: sodium + hydrochloric sulphur + sulphur + sodium + water thiosulphate acid precipitate dioxide chloride Na2S2O3 + 2HCl S + SO2 + 2NACl + H20 Factors: One of the factors is the temperature. The higher the temperature is, the more collisions occur. When there are more collisions, the rate of reaction increases. The rate of reaction depends on 4 things- temperature, concentration, the size of the particles and a catalyst. The concentration or pressure increases the number of collisions.
