Aim: I have been asked to investigate how the rate of reaction varies with increasing concentration of hydrochloric acid with sodium thiosulfate. There is five factors which affect the rate of a reaction these are temperature, concentration, pressure, surface area and catalysts. I have to investigate the effect of concentration. I will experiment different concentrations of hydrochloric acids with sodium thiosulphate. HCl + sodium thiosulphate + sodium chloride + sulfur dioxide + sulfur + water HCl (aq) + Na2S2O3 (aq) + NaCl (aq) + SO2 (gas) + S(s) + H2O (l) Theory: The kinetic theory of matter is the hypothesis that best explains the behaviour of solids, liquids, and gases. The theory states that: 1.When the particles are close they attract each other, at large distances the force disappears. 2. The movement of these particles cause them to collide with each other. 3.
