Hydrochloric Acid + Sodium Thiosulphate › Sodium Chloride + Sulphur Dioxide + Water 2HCl(aq) + Na²S²O³(aq) › 2NaCl(s) + SO²(g) + H²O(l). Aim: The main objective of this experiment is to investigate how changing the temperature affects the rate of reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid. Method: The experiment is pretty straightforward to get into and doesn't take a while to be done. Here are a number of apparatus that we are going to be using to accomplish the experiment: Conical flask Dilute hydrochloric acid Sodium thiosulphate Bunsen Burner Thermometer Tripod Pen and paper Stopwatch What happens is that we add about 50cm³ of sodium thiosulphate into the flask, as well as mixing it with 5cm³ of hydrochloric acid. Before we add both of them altogether we warm up the sodium thiosulphate to the selected temperatures ranging from 20ºC to 80ºC, one for each. After...
