Chemistry Coursework John McHugh Investigation Task- Investigate how changing the concentration of sodium Thiosulphate affects the rate of reaction. Method For this experiment I am going to use a black cross and place it at the base of the flask. Then I will add both Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) and Sodium Thiosulphate to the conical flask, and mix. Then I will start the stopwatch. There will also be a thermometer to check temperature at the start and finish of the reaction. After starting the stopwatch I will look down through the solution at the cross. As the reaction takes place the solution will become cloudier as sulphur is produced. When I can no longer see the cross I will stop the timer. I would repeat this test and reduce the amount of Sodium thiosulphate and increase the volume of water. ( vary the concentration) I will need • 200cm3 of Hydrochloric Acid * 275cm3 of...
