In this investigation, I am trying to find out the effect of temperature on the rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate. I could have chosen to investigate the variables of concentration, the use of a catalyst or surface area. I chose temperature as it's easily observed, I think surface area wouldn't make a difference in this investigation due to the fact both chemicals are liquids. I predict that as the temperature of the sodium thiosulphate increases the time taken for the reaction to occur will decrease. Therefore, there will be a faster rate of reaction between the two chemicals. A scientific reason for this is that for any reaction to occur particles have to collide with each other. Only a small percent of the particles result in a reaction. This is due to the energy barrier the particles have to overcome. Only particles with enough...
