Calcium Carbonate Hydrochloric Acid Calcium Chloride Carbon Dioxide Water CaCO3 (s) 2HCl (aq) CaCl2 CO2 H2O There are many different factors to take into account. These factors consist of; the temperature of the reactants, the surface area of the marble, the volume of hydrochloric acid, the mass of marble, the concentration of hydrochloric acid and also whether catalysts are present or not. I have chosen to investigate the concentration of the hydrochloric acid, and so all the other factors must remain constant, because of the possibility of the factors affecting the rate of reaction, which would cause bias.
