Chemistry coursework. Aim. The aim of my investigation is to find out if the concentration of acid effects reaction rate. Plan. I plan to keep all variables the same but I will change the concentration of acid. I will measure the amount of gas given off and will also time how long it takes for the gas to be given off. I will take a measurement of how much gas is given off every 10 seconds and record the results on a graph to compare how much the concentration of acid effects the rate of reaction. Prediction. I predict that as the concentration of the hydrochloric acid increases, the time taken for the magnesium to disappear decreases. I predict that when the concentration of the hydrochloric acid doubles, the rate of the reaction doubles. Theory.
