Enzyme coursework Aim: The aim of this experiment was to find out if concentration affects the rate of reaction. For this investigation we used five concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. We used yeast as the catalyst for the enzyme catalase. Preliminary Tests: We did some preliminary tests to see what amount of yeast and volume of hydrogen peroxide and amount of yeast we would be the best to use in our experiment. To find out what catalyst was the best, we done three catalysts. They were yeast, liver and potato. Using scales we measured out 0.25 grams of each and put it into 3 separate conical flasks with a five 3 cm cubed of ten volumes of hydrogen peroxide and measured the amount of oxygen given off in a accurate gas syringe.
