Factors affecting the rate of Reaction Reaction: Sodium + Hydrochloric Sulphur + Sulphur + Sodium + Water Thiosulphate Acid Dioxide Chloride Na2S2O3 + 2HCl S + SO2 + 2NaCl + H2O Purpose The purpose of this investigation is to find the factors affecting the rate of reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric acid. If there was an effect by 2 or more factors was there a relationship between them. Prediction It is likely that as the concentration of the sodium thiosulphate is increased, the speed of the reaction will also increase. This is because the number of molecules in a fixed volume is increasing and therefore there is a higher chance of a reaction because particles are more likely to collide effectively. This will also be the case when the concentration is decreased; the speed of the reaction will decrease because there are fewer molecules in a fixed volume therefore a lower chance of reaction. There is also...
