* * Factors Affecting The Heat Produced In The Reaction Between CuSO? and Zn * Background Knowledge The experiment itself will be exothermic. This means during the experiment's reaction, energy will be given off. This will probably be released largely as heat, and probably also small amounts of light and sound will be produced. In this experiment, we will also be looking for the "heat capacity" of water. This is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram of the substance by one degree Celsius. We will also be looking at the effects of the experiment on the substances, and thinking of how the experiment will have affected the bonds of each substance in question. The Copper Sulphate solution is mostly water, and therefore its heat capacity should be roughly the same as H?O. I gained this information from "Secondary Sources", such as my exercise book, revision...
