Experiment to investigate the effect of Catalase on H2O2 at different temperatures Aim The aim of this experiment is to find out how temperature effects the rate of a reaction between Hydrogen Peroxide and yeast. Prediction I predict that as temperature increases so will the rate of the reaction (up to a certain temperature, at which it will no longer 'function'). Once the temperature gets to 50°C, the enzyme breaks down and stops working. However, rises in temperature of 10°C should be expected to double the rate of reaction. Background Information Yeast is an enzyme, an enzyme is a biological Catalyst made up of protein which speed up different chemical reactions without being used up themselves. Enzymes have a very unique shape. This unique shape only reacts with one or two substances.
