EXPERIMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE EFFECT OF CONCENTRATION ON THE REACTION RATE AIM The aim of this experiment is to investigate how the concentration effects the rate of reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid. PRELIMINARY WORK EXPERIMENT 1 AIM To find out what would be a suitable time to leave my actual experiment for by seeing how long it would take to collect 30ml of hydrogen from a reaction of magnesium and a very weak hydrochloric acid and a reaction of magnesium and a very concentrated acid. METHOD * A strip of magnesium ribbon was cleaned using a piece of sandpaper to remove any surface impurities. * Using a clean pair of scissors, two 2cm long strips were cut from the magnesium ribbon. * 10 cm³ of hydrochloric acid and 40 cm³ of distilled water was carefully measured out using a measuring cylinder and poured into conical flask A * 50cm³ of hydrochloric acid was carefully measured out using a...
