Skill Area P: Planning To investigate the rate of this reaction, I need to measure something that changes during the reaction and have chosen a property that is easy to detect being the volume of gas that is given off. I will measure it at fixed time intervals and keep all the other variables constant. There are several factors that can influence the rate of a chemical reaction. In general, a factor that increases the number of collisions between particles will increase the reaction rate and a factor that decreases the number of collisions between particles will decrease the chemical reaction rate. These are the five main factors that can have an affect on the rate of reaction.
