BRUCE RIGBY 11C NOV 2001 Chemistry Coursework Devise and Design an experiment to show how the rate of the reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid changes if the concentration of Sodium Thiosulphate is changed. Plan I have decided to plan an investigation involving the reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid. Sodium Thiosulphate reacts with Hydrochloric Acid to give Sodium Chloride plus Water plus Sulphur Dioxide and Sulphur. Na 2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCl (aq) ? 2NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)[BR1] + SO2 (g) + S (S) During this reaction the sulphur precipitates out and clouds the solution. This precipitation is to be used as an indication of the rate of reaction. I am investigating whether or not the speed of the reaction may be changed by using different concentrations of Sodium Thiosulphate. I have decided this will be a good experiment because I feel there will be a definite change in...
