Chemistry Coursework. Task: Design an experiment to investigate the effect of varying the temperature of Sodium Thiosulphate solution on the rate of the reaction between sodium Thiosulphate solution and dilute hydrochloric acid. P: Planning. The equation for the reaction is: Na2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCl(aq) 2NaCl(aq) + H2O (l) + SO2 (aq) + S (S) Sodium Thiosulphate + hydrochloric acid sodium chloride +water + sulphur dioxide +sulphur Variables Independent Variable = temperature Dependant Variable = rate of reaction Control variable = concentration, volume, sodium thiosulphate, hydrochloric acid. Prediction I predict that by increasing the temperature of the diluted sodium thiosulphate solution, and then adding it to the hydrochloric acid and the rate of reaction will be increased. I also predict that as the concentration of the sodium thiosulphate increases the rate of reaction will increase. This means that both graphs drawn up in my analysis will have positive correlation, and will probably be curved as the increase in rate of reaction will...
