Chemistry Coursework Cooling Experiment Shayan Moghaddam Cooling Experiment Aim: The aim of this experiment is to see which of the three different material cups emit heat the quickest. * Prediction: I predict that the plastic cup will disperse its heat the quickest because it has the thinnest layer, thus allowing the particles heat energy to escape at a faster rate. Whereas In the polystyrene and paper cups, the thick walls on the cup should insulate the heat. I think that liquids cool down because the heat is allowed to travel in its three different ways. These are conduction, convection and radiation. Apparatus: 1x Thermometer 1x Stopwatch 1x Kettle of Boiling Water 1x Measuring Cylinder 3x Plastic Cup 3x Paper Cup 3x Polystyrene Cup Method: In this test, we: 1. Collected our equipment which consisted of a stopwatch, a polystyrene cup and a thermometer. 2. Drew a table on which we could record our results 3. Filled the cup with 200ml of hot water 4. Placed the thermometer...
