CHEMISTRY COURSEWORK YEAR 11 AIM- Are aim is to investigate the reaction between the dilute hydrochloric Acid and Magnesium. This is to determine if the temperature affects the rate of this reaction. For a reaction to happen 3 things must be Present: ?Molecules must collide ?Molecules must have a certain minimum energy ?Molecules must collide at a certain angle before a reaction can take place. This is called STERIC FACTOR REACTION- Dilute hydrochloric + Magnesium ----- Magnesium + Hydrogen Acid Chloride 2HCl + Mg ----- MgCl +H (g) ² ² METHOD- 1. Make sure you have all the equipments before starting 2. Measure 25cm³ of hydrochloric Acid and pour it into a beaker 3. Then get the basin and fill 1/2 the basin with water 4.
