An investigation to show the different rates of reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid when varying the concentration of the Sodium Thiosulphate Reaction Rates Chemical reactions require varying lengths of time for completion, depending upon the characteristics of the reactants and products and the conditions under which the reaction is taking place. Chemical Kinetics is the study of reaction rates, how reaction rates change under varying conditions and by which mechanism the reaction proceeds. What factors affect the rate of a reaction? We've already said that the characteristic of the reactants affect the rate of the reaction, what we want to do here is see what physical factors affect the rate. We can list these; How does temperature affect the rate of a chemical reaction? When two chemicals react, their molecules have to collide with each other with sufficient energy for the reaction to take place. This is collision theory. The two molecules will only...
