An investigation to find out how the concentration of acid affects the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid (HCl) and limestone (CaCo3) Aim My aim for this experiment is to find out if the concentration, which is the variable I am changing, affects the rate of reaction between CaCO3 & HCl. Prediction My prediction is that if the concentration of the acid increases there will be an increase in the rate of reaction for example the highest concentration will have the fastest reaction time. I used a preliminary test to help in the prediction. I went and prepared marble chips and concentrated acid, we tried the experiment, the results was clear that as in a few seconds it was almost finished.
