An investigation to examine the reaction rates of Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric acid Aim The aim of this piece of coursework is to investigate the reaction rates of Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid and the affect different changes have on them. Equation From my research I have already found out: Sodium Thiosulphate + Hydrochloric Acid d = Sulphur + Sodium Chloride + Sulphur Dioxide + Water Na2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCL (aq) = S + 2NaCl (aq)+ SO2 (g) + H2O Hypothesis I think heating a substance will speed up the reaction. I think this because of the research I have conducted on 'The Collision Theory' the collision theory states that for a chemical change to occur molecules have to collide with enough energy to break the bonds see diagram below.
