Nicole Wilson An investigation into the factors, that affects the rate of reaction between Sodium Thiosulphate (Na2S2O3) and Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) Rate is a measurement made to show how fast or slow something takes place. A chemical reaction is when two or more particles collide with enough energy together to produce a different and new substance. There are four factors that affect a chemical reaction, they are: * Temperature * Concentration * Catalyst * Surface Area Temperature Temperature affects a chemical reaction because the particles will move at a faster rate if the temperature is increased. Therefore the energy within the particles will increase and they will collide more often. This then makes a successful rate of reaction it encourages more collisions. Concentration To make more particles collide you can increase the concentration, because this increase means that there are then more particles to collide together.
