An Investigation into the rate of the reaction between sodium thiosulphate (aq) and hydrochloric acid (aq). In this experiment, I shall be examining the reaction rate of sodium thiosulphate (aq) and hydrochloric acid (aq). Throughout the experiment, I will be changing the concentration of the sodium thiosulphate. The range of concentrations I will be using are : 40, 32, 24, 16 and 8 g/dm3. The concentration of the hydrochloric acid will stay the same at 1 mole/dm3. Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the two chemicals will react slowly, and as the concentration on the sodium thiosulphate decreases, the longer the reaction will take. Also, a yellow substance (sulphur) will be left at the bottom of the flask used, and sulphur dioxide will be given off. Apparatus The apparatus that I shall be using in this experiment are: Three 250cm3 beakers, One 250cm3 conical flask, Three 25cm3 measuring cylinders, Three droppers, and A stopwatch. Also to...
