Jamie Moir 11F 12/04/02 How does the amount of Copper Carbonate effect the amount of Copper Oxide. The Formula for the reaction is: Copper Carbonate Copper Oxide + Carbon Dioxide CuCO3 CuO + CO2 Atomic mass 124 80 + 44 Prediction My thesis is that if you increase the amount of Copper Carbonate, obviously you will have more Copper Oxide produced. My Calculation for working out how much Copper oxide is produced. X is the amount of Copper Carbonate in grams. 80 X = 124 x X Eg 1 gram = 80 124 x 1= 0.64g 2 grams = 80 124 x 2= 1.29g 3 grams = 80 124 x 3= 1.92g ECT This is worked out by taking the atomic mass of the starting product, which is Copper Carbonate, with an atomic mass of 124.This is worked out by adding the atomic mass of all the elements in Copper Carbonate. These are Copper (63), Carbon (12) and 3 atoms of oxygen (...
