Chemistry Investigation On The Reactivity Series Aim To work out the order of reactivity of zinc, magnesium, copper, iron and calcium. Prediction I predict that calcium will be the most reactive with magnesium followed by zinc, iron and copper respectively. I can make this prediction because I have done experiments showing that calcium can displace all the other metals from a solution, magnesium can displace anything below it in the reactivity series but nothing above. The rule for magnesium applies to all the other metals. Plan My plan is to add a measured amount of the metal to about 25cm of copper sulphate and mix them together in some sort of insulated container. I would have a thermometer sticking out of the container where I would measure the temperature every 20 seconds for as long as I think is needed to make a firm conclusion.
