What factors affect the rate of reaction between marble chips and hydrochloric acid? Plan. My plan is to try and investigate the rate of reaction with the marble chips and the hydrochloric acid. I will find one variable and change only one. I will keep all of the others constant to keep the test fair. Safety. I will try and keep this experiment as safe as possible at all times. I will wear goggles to protect my eyes from the acid. If at any time acid is spilt it will be cleaned up as quickly as possible. If at anytime it has spilt onto my hands they will be washed straight away. I will use the right apparatus for the experiment to keep it as safe as possible. Fair Testing. At all the experiment must be as fair as possible to give the most accurate results. The same weight of marble will be used every time....
