What factors affect the rate of reaction I am going to measure the amount of hydrogen produced after the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. The amount of hydrogen produced by attaching a 100cm3 gas syringe to a clonical flask. As soon as the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid the gas syringe will be attached to the conical flask and the stop watched started to see how long it takes for the amount of hydrogen produced. Diagram I predict that the rate of reaction will decrease as the concentration of the hydrochloric acid decreases. I have predicted this because the higher the concentration of acid the more chance of collisions with magnesium there fore the rate of reaction will decrease as the concentration decreases.
