What affects the rate of reaction between Magnesium Metal and Hydrochloric acid? Plan The Experiment We are going to measure the amount of gas given off when we combine Hydrochloric acid and Magnesium Metal. We will combine the reactants and collect the gas given off by using a gas syringe. Here is the word and symbol equation for what we are going to do. Hydrochloric acid + Magnesium Magnesium Chloride + Water HCl + Mg MgCl + H2O Method * First I will collect my equipment so I can take out the experiment, and set it up. * Then we will measure out 50ml of Hydrochloric acid and pour it into the side-arm flask. * Then we will measure out 6cm of Magnesium ribbon, because in our preliminary experiment we used 3cm and there wasn't enough to react, so we have developed from our preliminary experiment are now using 6cm of Magnesium ribbon. * Make sure all of the equipment...
